Courtney Lewis

“I unexpectedly had a miscarriage and from there my mental health deteriorated rapidly. I was having panic attacks and was very suicidal”

I couldn’t believe how quickly my feelings changed after losing my baby. I was lost, it seemed like nobody understood and to be honest, I had no idea what to do.

I reached out to a family member who told me about Back Onside and I contacted them via WhatsApp – Libby replied that day. Within two days I was speaking with Back Onside’s professional counsellor, Jane, and she was honestly, the most AMAZING help.

Jane taught me how to cope with my feelings when I was having a bad day and really helped me understand my depression and anxiety.

Back Onside have helped me get on with my life and of course I still have bad days here and there, but I now know what to do to help myself. If you’re reading this and you’re struggling, please speak out, tell someone how you are feeling. Having that one chat with someone will help you a long, long way.

“Being open and honest with my feelings changed my life and I really think that everyone should do the same. It has helped me get on with my life; I still have the odd bad day but now I know what to do to help myself. ”

Once I had completed all my therapy sessions with Jane/Back Onside I knew I had to give back after everything they had done for me. I knew that their services cost money and I wanted to do whatever I could to help someone else in the future.

In January 2022 I done a charity skydive and not only did I tick off something in my bucket list, I managed to raise an amazing £1134 for Back Onside. It was the best experience ever and the best part? I’ve been able to help someone else struggling with their mental health.

Back Onside are such a thoughtful and loving charity who really will do everything that they can to help people like me. There is huge demand for such a quick and trustworthy mental health service, but every single service that they offer is funded by people like me and you.

Back Onside receive no government support and therefore, our donations are vital to ensure their services can continue. If you can spare a donation, or if you have the ability to fundraise, then please donate here or email for a fundraising pack.

Thank you for reading my story, I really hope it’s helped you in some way.
